Abstract
This essay summarizes some ideas around digital currency and cryptoassets in the context of recent events and the growing interest on the subject. These are personal thoughts, but towards the end of the document I summarize the response by the authorities and the approach that the Banco Central de Costa Rica has followed in this topic.

Esta nota busca compartir algunas consideraciones en torno a las monedas digitales y los criptoactivos, a propósito de acontecimientos recientes y del creciente interés que el tema suscita. Aunque se trata de reflexiones personales, en la última parte de esta nota se describe también la respuesta de las autoridades y el enfoque que hasta ahora ha seguido el Banco Central de Costa Rica en relación con este tema.
